I am currently a research associate at the University of Tennessee (UT) Center for Literacy Studies (CLS). After 13 years working as an electrical engineer, I began working in the adult education field as a volunteer literacy tutor and a GED teacher. I became involved with the Equipped for the Future (EFF) project at CLS in 1999 (a standards-based system reform initiative) and continue to work with the EFF Center (at UT/CLS) through professional development trainings and coordination of the EFF website. My other responsibilities include a National Institute for Literacy-sponsored project as part of the team developing and coordinating the Program Planning Resource Collection, the Topic Area Leader for the Standards section of the ALE Wiki, and a National Science Foundation grant called Project TIAN (Teachers Investigating Adult Numeracy) which is piloting and field testing a professional development model in Adult Numeracy.
