From LiteracyTentWiki
Since 1993, I have worked in the field of adult literacy and education as a literacy volunteer, classroom teacher, professional development specialist, administrator, and researcher. In 2007, I received my Ph.D. in Curriculum and Teaching, with a focus on adolescent and adult reading instruction. I am currently an independent consultant, primarily in the areas of reading and standards-based education. The majority of my time and effort is spent supporting state adult education systems in developing and implementing reading standards, which I do through the Center for Literacy Studies’ Equipped for the Future initiative.
A major professional goal I have is to find ways to communicate and incorporate research about reading instruction into adult education contexts in ways that make sense for adult learners and the system that supports them.
