The adult students described in Drago-severson's Becoming Adult Learners were shop floor workers enrolled in a high school diploma program sponsored by their employer, the Polaroid Corporation. "This research emphasizes the need for attending to a more subtle form of diversity in the classroom: learner’s “way of knowing”—which is an internally consistent “meaning-making system” that we all use to make sense of, or interpret, our experience."
- I read the interview carefully, twice, and couldn't figure out how to understand the topic. The interviewer did not ask the researcher about the meaning of contextualized terms. I would appreciate it if someone could "translate" for me. The researcher has been given a prize for her book on leadership (principals, I think) so I think this must be a problem in this particular interview. What is a "way of knowing," and what is a "meaning-making system?" Thanks.

Hi Andrea,
I made some of the terms you had questions about into internal links. I haven't read the interview but will try to soon. Hopefully, we can have those internal links link to some useful definitions.
