Subject: [PD 4835] digital citizenship and privacy setting on Facebook and other social networking websites

Hi Bethany and all,
Your point about keeping the personal and professional information
separate without having separate accounts is a very important one. I
have opted for the multiple account approach but it occurs to me now
that perhaps as part of using Facebook and other social networking
sights, there should be a focus on how to use privacy settings and
manage ones private information. There is an interesting website that
looks at digital citizenship http://www.digitalcitizenship.net/ and
issues around privacy are included throughout their nine elements of
digital citizenship.
This is also a reminder that you can sign up for small groups on
specific topics as an extension of this week's discussion, including one
on Facebook. Go to this link

one of the small groups today.
Best,
Nell Eckersley
