Dots per inch (dpi)

dots per inch (dpi) AleTechnology
Computers can only fit a certain amount of information on to a monitor screen (or other display device). This is measured in how many dots can be shown in one inch of screen space. PC monitors range from 60-120 dots per inch, but usually cannot display more than 72 dpi. Because of this limitation, you should not post very high-resolution (over 72 dpi) images to a Web page. Viewers will not be able see any difference, and the larger file size will slow the download time.
