Subject: [PD 4774] How Do You Decide?

Dear All,
I am also enjoying the conversations; here's another aspect to our
discussion.
Part of the "beauty and horror," as Nell Eckersley noted last week, is in
deciding which social media tools to learn and use. One method (among many
that we tend to use implicitly) is the POST Method. As described by Josh
Bernoff, it is a "systematic" approach to using social media:

How do you decide which social media tools to use in teaching or
professional development?
For example, tell us about the SM tools you already use successfully in
teaching or PD. How did you decide to use them? Do you start with the tool?
Audience? Objective? Yours or your students' interests? Some combination
thereof?
Tell us about the adult learners or colleagues with whom you interact - or
wish to interact -- via SM tools. What access to social media do they have?
What skills does your audience (adult learners or practitioners) already
have using social media? How does this impact your approach to teaching or
providing professional development using these tools?
Best...Jackie
