I am a professional development specialist, now operating my own business. I began working in adult basic education as a GED teacher, then as a welfare-to-work teacher with Tennessee's welfare reform initiative. I coordinated state-level professional development at the UT Center for Literacy Studies for several years. I now manage the development of ProLiteracy America's online professional development, and I moderate the National Institute for Literacy's Adult Literacy Professional Development Discussion List. I am the Topic Area Leader for Professional Development here on the ALE Wiki, I chair of the Association of Adult Literacy Professional Developers (http://www.aalpd.org/), and I am working on my doctorate in Collaborative Learning at UT. I support adult literacy advocacy efforts through TAACE, the SPOC network, and Literacy President http://www.litpresident.org/. My 11-year old son is the absolute light of my life.
