I have been involved in education for many years working with elementary, middle level, high school and adult education. I received my B.S. in elementary education at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) and my M.A. in bilingual/bicultural, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) N, K-12, adults from the University of Connecticut. My sixth year coursework is from various universities including Chapman University. My experience in ESOL has covered all levels and ages of English Language Learners (ELLs). My most recent positions are teaching ESOL at the middle school level, adult ESOL beginners at the local night program. I also wrote and instruct an Independent Studies 3 credit graduate course for mainstream teachers about language acquisition, ELL strategies and methods, "Teaching English Language Learners" at Chapman University, CA.

I enjoy writing poems, and have several published. I presented 'Enjoying Language through Poetry for English Language Learners (ELLs)" at ConnTESOL (CT TESOL) 2009 conference at CCSU. I have submitted manuscripts and articles for publication and am editor of WHEA World, our local union's newsletter. On National TESOL list serv IEP IS (Intensive English Program Interest Section) I am the manager, a member of the National Education Association, (NEA)ELL Caucus and participated in the Google work group 'Adult Literacy Online Professional Development.'
