Area Leader for Health Literacy Discussion Area
I have been working on health literacy projects for 10 years, with a focus on developing resources in electronic and print formats. I coordinated the LINCS' Health & Literacy Special Collectionand co-wrote the resource guides: Culture, Health and Literacy and Family Health and Literacy. I now moderate the Health Literacyand Focus On Basicsdiscussion lists for the National Institute for Literacy. My original training is in exercise physiology and health promotion, which has led me to health literacy through teaching health and literacy in Papua New Guinea, teaching ESOL in Cambridge, MA, and coordinating projects in health screening and workplace education. My interests are in resources for teachers and health educators, and also enhancing collaboration between the fields of adult literacy and health education.
