LISTSERV/listservs AleTechnology
Strictly speaking, Listserv refers to the registered trademark name for one particular electronic mailing list licensed to L-Soft International, Inc. Loosely, it is a generic term for an electronic mailing list or e-list, sometimes also called a discussion forum. Users submit their names to a server, for example for L-soft, to LISTPROC via email and are then added to the list. Users then receive all email messages that are sent to the list. They can also send an e-mail to the list which is then distributed by the software to all those who have subscribed. Electronic lists ("listservs") are a convenient way for people to asynchronously and electronically discuss a common interest. For a fuller definition see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Listserv
