Maile Broccoli-Hickey

Maile Broccoli-Hickey founded English at Work in Austin, Texas in 2005. English at Work's mission is to provide customized English language classes to entry-level employees at the workplace in order to build a stronger community. The organization has provided instruction to housekeepers at the Hilton, dishwashers at Whole Foods, and cafeteria workers at Austin's children's hospital.

In leading English at Work, Maile draws on her experience living in multi-cultural communities as well as her previous jobs as a school teacher, factory employee, secretary, and waitress. She is a graduate of the LBJ School of Public Affairs where her research focused on adult language acquisition and workforce development. Maile will be leading the workshop Making English Work for Women.
