Hello Everyone!
Yesterday, we discussed putting forth a case study example for ourselves to apply the design elements process we’ve discussed this week. For the purpose of this discussion, let’s go with Bonnie’s case study topic suggestion and focus on the process. Then, if we like what we’ve accomplished, we can proceed to the other topics.
Please see the assumptions I’m offering as a way to frame our case study and some guiding questions for us to consider below.
Post your responses to the questions below in one email, along with any comments. Then we’ll synthesize our thinking in the Design Elements Wiki and create (hopefully) a final product.

Case Study: Introduction to Online Delivery for Instructors: Conveying E-Presence
Audience: Instructors who will be teaching adult students online
Session Goals: To introduce the art and science of teaching adult learners online
Delivery Mode: ?
Session Objectives: ?
Assumptions:
Low-budget
Audience is located within one region of a state
Audience has a range of skills from lower tech skills to tech-savvy
Questions:
- What is the delivery mode(s)? (See David’s handout for ideas, attached)
- What are the objectives for this session?
- What learning activities will you have participants do so that they meet the session objectives?
- How will you evaluate the learning?
- Over what span of time would the PD last? For example, Is this a short, 1 hour single topic live chat or webinar? An online course? An asynchronous discussion? Any combination thereof?
- How will we consider the needs of the audience re: content?
- What technology tools will you use and why?
- What are the ADA considerations for the session?
- What opportunities do participants have to interact with each other and the technology?
- Does the session address various learning styles and intelligences?
- Do participants have opportunities to facilitate online?
- With whom will you pilot the PD session?
- Other questions?
