Implementing Agency / Funder:ProLiteracy, Towers Perrin and Verizon
Description: Literacy for Social Change (LFSC) is a methodology developed by ProLiteracy that integrates fundamental skills instruction with critical thinking and cultural expression for individual and community action. It is based on the idea that through literacy people are empowered to make positive changes in their lives and communities. Based on ProLiteracy's experiences implementing LFSC in over 75 countries, they developed the LFSC Web site and two free, self-paced online courses: Overcoming Poverty Through Action-based Literacy and Literacy for Social Change.
