Hello Wendi, Marian, Jennifer, and all,
Wendi, thank you for your response regarding my inquiry on mailings. My intent
was regarding access issues; but for me you laid much of that to rest with
your wonderfully clear description of 'artifacts' and establishing culture.
Indeed, many times folks save name badges or other tokens important to their
remembrance of an experience, thus contributing to matters of identity. I also
appreciate both Marian's and Jennifer's responses regarding hybrid approaches
in California and Massachusetts and the details about what you're learning and
changing! What do others have to add about hybrid PD in respective states?
In thinking about Web-based PD, it does offer opportunities for teachers to
access PD without the barriers travel and distance presents. But have we
necessarily solved the issues of teacher access to professional development?
- Taking into consideration the various professional development options offered in states (purely online PD, hybrid models, train the trainers, distance learning and more) do we still face challenges in providing access to professional development? If so, what are some examples or challenges from practical experience that you still face, and what are you learning by addressing these issues?
- Also, does your state have (ongoing, formative) process(es) for gauging how well the PD system is reaching and serving all AE practitioners? If so, please tell us about it.
Thanks! jackie
