SCANS (Secretary's Commission on Necessary Skills: http://wdr.doleta.gov/SCANS/) AleAssessment

An initiative of the United States Department of Labor that identified the skills workers need to perform in the world of work and which made recommendations for changes in secondary education to facilitate the development of these skills. The SCANS report was published in 1991 and identified five competencies (allocating resources, working with others, using information, understanding systems, and using technology) and 3 foundational skill sets (basic skills, thinking skills, and personal qualities).
