For those involved in the discussion on online and blended professional development who might be interested in viewing an example of online pd delivered via a learning management system, we have a sample course of one of the professional development courses offered by ProLiteracy. (This demo was created as a sales sample, so please pardon the links to the site where the full version of the course can be purchased!) It contains excerpts from a course on student retention.

To access the demo:

  • Go to http://207.10.202.137/home/
  • Sign on with user name: aalpd password: demo
  • At the "My Courses" page, click on the course title: Excerpts from:

  • An outline/syllabus of the course is presented to you; click on "Introduction" to begin, or anywhere else to explore. Because this is a shared user name, you'll see that others have taken the exam before you; you'll still be able to look at it, though.
