I, too, have had certain students with this fear. I suggest always using positive reinforcement and ask them what they feel that their roles are in society. If they are mature with the response, aid them by mentioning that the GED is only the first step in schooling, and that they need not attain an occupation or attend higher education just yet. I would appreciate any feedback or comments.
